An interesting and simple method used to solve arithmatic word problems by drawing a rectangular figure.
Almost all word problems at the elementary school level can be solved by using
multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction .
We are going to look at the relations between the length, the side and the area of a rectangle
in order to solve the word problems.
The equation to find the area is Length X Width = Area
In the beginning, learn how to express all of the parts in the problem.
This is the length, width and area of
the rectangle. Do this only in very simple word problems, because in harder problems you may not know some of this information.
It is important to master this basic pattern with very simple word problems.
If you can easily draw the information given in the problems - the length,
the width and the area,
